The Upington Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a business entity of the Northern Cape provincial government, responsible for leading a manufacturing revolution in the renewable and solar energy, mining, agricultural, aeronautical and other sectors.
Through SEZs, the South African Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) wants to bring economic activity and growth to isolated parts of the country, which have commercial potential. The aim is to provide an investor-friendly business environment that attracts foreign and domestic investment, and creates employment.
Similar to SEZs countrywide, we have a geographically designated area set aside for specifically targeted economic activities in order to accelerate industrial development. In the heart of the Green Kalahari, right next to Upington International Airport, we have more than 400ha of prime land available to be utilised by investors in the above-mentioned industries.
Together with our partners, the Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Nceda), the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the dti and the Airports Company South Africa (Acsa), we invite all interested investors to contact us for more information.
